If ever staying near Platte City, Mo, we would 100% recommend you checking out the Prairie Creek Greenway. We were wanting to find a place where Kimberly could walk comfortably beside me and this was it! It had good parking and the path was wide and smooth; a glorious combination. A small thing happened while on that walk, but it made a big impact on us. As we were walking, a woman came toward us at a brisk pace. I went ahead of Kimberly so there was plenty of room for her to pass us. I said a friendly hello as we passed and she responded with a hello of her own. Then I was surprised to hear her tell Kimberly hello as well. This may sound simple to you, but you would be surprised how many times Kimberly is overlooked. It meant something to me to have this stranger reach out to Kimberly as an individual, someone who deserves to have her own interactions. So, when your around people of different abilities, maybe keep this in mind and talk to them as well as who they are with. And go for a walk, it’s good for you!
