When driving all the way from Missouri to Las Vegas, what's another few hours to California and Los Angeles? We were advised by a wonderful friend, Kelly Quinn Asquino, to stay in Santa Monica and only venture into Hollywood for a day trip. That was only one of many great tips that she gave us. So our first night found us at the Santa Monica Pier and eager to explore! We had read a review before coming that said The Pier was a great place to visit in a wheelchair. Unfortunately, we would have to disagree! Don't get me wrong. It is beautiful and seems to have a lot of shops and restaurants to visit. However, because of how the pier is constructed, it was just too bumpy for Kimberly to be able to ride on comfortably, even with the mat laid down that is supposed to help. Maybe, someone with more muscle control could handle it better, but for Kimberly, it was not worth checking out the rest of the Santa Monica Pier. However, we did get to enjoy a beautiful sunset and delicious meal at Bubba Gump.
