On April 2, Kimberly and I were lucky enough to go to the Palace Theater in Columbus, Ohio to watch Harry Potter in Concert. At this event, you watch one of the Harry Potter movies while a live orchestra plays all the music in the movie. It seemed like they added some music to enhance the experience as well. It was an overall wonderful time. The theater was very accessible and the staff was really friendly. When purchasing a wheelchair accessible seat, you’re at the mercy of the seating chart and sometimes you don’t even get a choice for a good seat. We thought the accessible seating at the Palace Theater allowed for a great view of the film and orchestra. The only real negative was the placement of the accessible bathroom. As shown in the pictures, you can see that during intermission, there is no way a wheelchair could maneuver through all those people.
But overall, it was an awesome experience and now we want to watch all the films this way! One of Kimberly’s favorite parts was the audience participation that was encouraged by the director of the orchestra. Everyone cheered, laughed, and booed all throughout the movie. It was so much fun. I will add, you probably need to be a true Harry Potter fan to justify the cost of the ticket to watch a movie you have seen a hundred times. It was worth it for us!
