IS VEGAS A GOOD PLACE TO VISIT IN A WHEELCHAIR?

We have given multiple reviews over different events and places that we experienced in Las Vegas. Now for the most important question; would we recommend a Vegas vacation to those in a wheelchair? The answer: not at this time!
Hopefully the pictures you've seen so far show what an awesome time we had celebrating Kimberly's birthday with our family and friends. However, there is so much construction going on that it makes exploring the strip downright discouraging. When doing our research, we decided to stay at The Paris mostly because of its location; right in the middle. We had planned a couple of shows and doing the escape room ahead of time; thinking that it might take us 15-20 minutes to walk to these locations. We knew that it would be crowded and would need to allow plenty of time to get to these venues. What we weren't expecting were all the equipment, scaffolding, and broken elevators! The latter being the most frustrating. To get across the street on the strip, the easiest way is to use walkways they have built that go over the street. The walkways are only accessible by stairs or elevators. Obviously, if the elevator is out of order, Kimberly cannot use the walkway. On our trip to The Escape Game located in The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, we ran into 3 out of order elevators. In each incident, we were able to back track and keep going to eventually cross the street at a street light. Unfortunately, it added a lot of stress to the afternoon and time to take the longer route. This experience, coupled with the difficulty of finding an accessible Uber, influenced the rest of our stay by creating a desire to just stay at The Paris and surrounding area. I am not sure how long the city will be impacted by this extra construction. The construction is due to the Formula 1 race that is supposed to take place in November. However, a cab driver told some of our party that this was part of a 10-year contract between F1 and Las Vegas.
If still wanting to visit Las Vegas with a wheelchair user, my advice would be to try to find out when this construction period will be over. I would also research what I wanted to do most in Vegas, what show, what activity, what restaurant, and choose a hotel very close to that event. I don't know if we will be back, but if so, this is what we would do.
I wanted to add that we were very worried about how cigarette smoke was going to affect Kimberly while in the casinos. I am happy to report that although we could smell it, always, and that it aggravated my throat by the end of our trip; Kimberly was never affected by it!
(I have reached out to the Mayor of Las Vegas to inform them of the elevator problem, but at the time of this review I have not heard back from them.)
