How Accessible Is The Grand Canyon?

When finding out we were headed west, a lot of people asked us if we were going to see the Grand Canyon, and I’m so happy to say that we did and it was amazing! As hard as you may try, you can never imagine how vast and beautiful it is until you’ve actually seen it. However, as beautiful as it is, you have to accept the physical limitations which come with keeping things so close to their natural state. The pull-offs we saw and visited were good, but you really had to look for the accessible entrance onto the sidewalk. We stopped at Bright Angel Lodge to take in some amazing views. And yes, my chair could get to most areas and I am happy with the access I had, but the terrain was a little rocky and uneven at times. But again, we can appreciate how they want to keep the environment as close to the natural thing as possible. The only thing we would change if we could is the seating available at the IMAX theater at the Grand Canyon. As you can see, the ADA seating is extremely close to the screen which makes it difficult to see the whole screen. But overall we enjoyed the Grand Canyon experience immensely. Please visit the Grand Canyon if you ever get the chance.
