Don’t Mess With Texas!

As most of you know, we just got back from Texas earlier this week. We had a wonderful time visiting with family. Thank you, Aunt Julie, for being a great hostess! You have a beautiful home!
Unfortunately, our experience traveling down wasn’t as great as we wanted it to be. We had to drive farther than we planned to even find a vacancy and our “handicap“ room was very disappointing. We stayed at a La Quinta Inn in Durant, Oklahoma, and, as you can see from the pictures below, it was not very wheelchair friendly. The entry into the room was almost impossible to navigate and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without help.
So, even though the rest of the room was nice, we would never stay here again. Plus, some of us had some trouble with the coffee machine in the room.
Once we got to Aunt Julie’s though, we had a wonderful time. Julie definitely reminds me of my grandma; it was such a treat to see the similarities. Plus, she has a beautiful home and lives in a beautiful location.
On our last night we went to the local Catholic Church, St Charles Borroneo, and then out to dinner at the local motorcycle bar, Reverend Jim’s Dam Pub! Both places were accessible and I felt very welcomed. The pub’s food was delicious and the live band was great too.
On our way home we stopped at a Holiday Inn in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This has been our hotel brand of choice and they rarely disappoint!
It’s always great to end a trip with one more game of cards with grandpa!
