Kimberly's favorite restauarant was Royal Thai, but I was excited about the Korean place we went to on Friday called Itaewon Restaurant. For a little background, Kimberly is a big fan of cooking shows, especially Master Chef. We had been watching some old episodes while Maggie and Ron were doing this thing called working. In one specific episode the cooks were challenged to make Bibimbab. Most of the contestants didn't know how to cook it, much less pronounce it. It all looked good though. I told Kimberly that I bet Maggie and Ron have eaten bibimbab since they have both done quite a bit of traveling and seem so worldly. Sure enough, when we mentioned it to Maggie after work, she said that yes, she has eaten it before and that some co-workers were actually talking about a place in Daleville that serves the best bibimbab! What?! I couldn't believe it. So I announced I was taking Kimberly to get Bibimbab for lunch on Friday, our last day there. Maggie and Ron both said they would go with us.

When we pulled up, I was a little skepitical. The parking lot entrance was a challenge for my low riding van. And then the entrance to the restaurant looked to have it's challenges for Kimberly. You can see they have a sidewalk that led to the door which was decent, but the placement of the doors meant Kimberly had to pass by the doors first, then turn around to get inside; all without backing off of the sidewalk itself.

It was a little dicey, but Maggie kept guard and we made it inside.

The food itself was amazing. My shrimp bibimbab did not dissapoint!

Now, the picture below reminds me that I should be a little more observant or investigative or something. I just had to push the door open all the way and it went all the way back against the wall. So that whole precarious, heart pounding entrance did not have to be that way. I just needed to open the door ALL THE WAY!

So, to finish, the Itaewon Restaurant in Daleville, Alabama gets two thumbs up!

Now I want to try bibimbab! I love the comment about just needing to open the door all the way. I think many of us often see the barriers first, perceived or actual.
